FAQ's

DO YOU HAVE FIELD TRIPS?
No.  Due to increased liability risks and parental concerns regarding school bus safety we no longer have any field trips.  Further, we feel that children this young benefit more from field trips with their parents.

MUST I VOLUNTEER?
No.  We do not count parent volunteers as “staff” in our pupil teacher ratio and therefore do not have a mandatory volunteer requirement.  However, our school has an open door policy for parents to visit at ANY time.  We welcome you to come and enjoy the session through your child’s eyes, without being “put to work”.

However, with new Government regulations for “under three” children, there MAY be a requirement for parents of “under three” children to volunteer on a rotating basis if the numbers exceed the regulated limit of six “under three” per adult.  This rarely occurs as we normally restrict the number of “under three” children to six per class.

WHAT ABOUT SNACKS?
Snack time is an important mid-session break for the children and the teachers.  The parents provide their child’s snack.  

CAN I VISIT WHEN MY CHILD IS IN CLASS?
Yes, Parents are welcome at any time to visit The Think Sun Preschool.

WHEN WILL I RECEIVE INFORMATION ABOUT SEPTEMBER START  DATES AND TIMES?
A package will be mailed to you the last week of August.

WHAT HAPPENS IF MY CHILD DOESN’T LIKE SCHOOL?
We would hope that your child would begin to enjoy school by the end of September.  Some children just loathe saying “bye” and end up happily playing once Mom or Dad is out of sight.  If we have tried all our “tricks” in our considerable experience, we’ll work with you as to the best solution for your child.

DO YOU HAVE AN ORIENTATION FOR PARENTS?
Depending on our registration numbers, orientation occurs during the first morning/afternoon after Labour Day and this twenty-minute briefing gives us a chance to introduce you to our school, our goals and what you can expect in the next few weeks. For students starting after September, we ask parents to stay for about 20 minutes the first morning/afternoon (or longer if you so choose).
